Summary
As we saw today when we saddled up the Crucial modules alongside some very respected G.Skill Ripjaws sticks, we were rather surprised by the results; Crucial ran away from the competition in convincing fashion. More importantly, however, is that today's test was a handicap match, pitting the Crucial 1333 rating against the G.Skill's 1600 rating. It wasn't a fair fight, but the results were the opposite of what we expected; not only did the Crucial modules come out ahead, but they did it rather convincingly.

These Crucial modules also offer outstanding headroom when going beyond their 1333MHz rated speeds, with sufficient gas left in the tank to reach some blistering numbers on your system. Running 1980MHz (almost three rated speed levels higher!) is nothing short of outstanding. These sticks also proved to be very easy to overclock, and not touchy to voltage tweaks at all, which is always a blessing when trying to find the limits of your memory and overclock settings.

A quick online search shows these modules can be found for about $95 USD, which is one of the cheapest prices in this speed range among all manufacturers, and this is an outstanding value for what you get in return. This isn't really surprising since Crucial modules have typically been offered at some of the most attractive prices you'll find. You do get some extremely capable modules at the listed price.

Today's examination revealed a rare combination: insane performance and an insanely low price. Normally we see top performance with a very expensive price tag, but these Crucial module buck that trend, laying waste to the notion that great performance costs a fortune. Indeed, today's results have achieved something quite special and well-deserved as these Crucial 4GB DDR3-1333 earn our top Editor's Choice Award.
